Greenmount village...
Greenmount is a small village between Tottington and Holcombe Brook on the northwest outskirts of Bury, Lancashire.
It has a primary school, a church, pub and a small cluster of shops and businesses at the T junction on Holcombe Road.
The old school building is in regular use for many activities and clubs for both children and adults and is used as a social 'drop-in' centre on the morning of the first Saturday of every month to enable local residents to get together for a chat over a cup of tea or a cheap lunch.
There are several thriving clubs and societies in the village and the Greenmount Village Community project was started in April 2010 with the objective of improving the appearance of and defining the identity of Greenmount.
The project is organised by volunteers from the local community and is intended to involve all the residents and businesses of the village for the benefit of all those who live in and use the village. It has already been instrumental in the clean up and renovation of some areas of the village and has organised several very successful events and social evenings.
